This retreat for piano lovers and pianists of all skill levels will take place at the riverfront bed and breakfast River House in Ashe County, N.C. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, River House and its surroundings offer activities from kayaking to strolling the charming downtown of nearby West Jefferson. And of course, River House's own rocking chairs and wide front porch are the perfect spot to relax your day away!

Here’s what the week about: You’ll enjoy nightly informal entertainment by Emile, optional individual sessions at the piano with him, and at least one masterclass (perhaps more) with plenty of Q&A time! But you don’t have to play the piano to enjoy the week, as long as you enjoy good music, good food, natural surroundings and making new friends.

A Week with Emile at River House begins with a Sunday Salon at 4:00 on Sunday, April 7. You’ll enjoy a performance by Emile, passed hors d’ oeuvres and a fabulous dinner. Monday morning through Friday’s checkout, begin your day with coffee left outside your room, then come on down to the main house for the not-to-be missed full breakfast. Days are for lessons (if you wish), exploring the area, enjoying the outdoors or simply sitting on the porch watching the river run. Late afternoons will find us enjoying a cocktail and a bit of music before sitting down to an unpretentiously elegant dinner! Afterward, perhaps enjoy a little more music, some fabulous conversation, and then back to your room for a restful night. 

River House is a small country inn in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. Emile first stayed at River House after his concerts in Ashe County, N.C. almost 25 years ago, and he and his wife have been going back ever since. Innkeeper Gayle Winston is the most hospitable hostess you’ll ever meet, while her partners Julie & Matt Milunic go above and beyond to ensure that your time at River House is all you hope it to be - and more!

Pricing

A Week with Emile Registration Fee: $450 (individual) / $750 (couple) Does not include accommodations or meals. Because River House has only a small number of rooms, we highly recommend you book your accommodation before paying the registration fee.

Two One-on-One Sessions with Emile at the Piano: $150 Two 45-60 minute sessions with Emile at the piano, completely individualized. Bring a piece you’re stumped on or just general questions. He can troubleshoot technical issues, he’s got plenty of tips to “unstick”your playing and can answer just about any questions you might have! Emile will re-inspire you! Sign up here.

Meals for the week: $450 per person Includes all meals, taxes and gratuities from hors d’oeuvres and dinner on Sunday through breakfast on Friday. Does not include alchohol.
